UltraLite Beehive Studio kiln! YAY!

Je suis très heureuse de partager avec vous le fait que j'ai gagné le premier prix dans le concours Keum-boo lancé par la revue Metal Clay Today avec mon pendentif «Capture Time" (en photo)! La signification du pendentif peut être trouvé sur leur site, ici. Le premier prix était cet adorable UltraLite Beehive Studio four de chez JEC Products! Il est arrivé tout récemment et j'ai hâte que la saison des expositions se calme pour que je puisse essayer ce nouveau modèle. Ils ont fait quelques améliorations par rapport au modèle précédent que j'ai acheté en 2008 lors de la Conférence PMC, que j'aime et dont je me sers régulièrement pour du Keum-boo depuis! Il rend la vie si facile! Il chauffe très vite, il maintient la température jusqu'à ce que l'on éteigne, Les disques en laiton sont parfaitement conçus pour donner une meilleure stabilité aux pièces en forme pendant l'application de l'or et diffusent la chaleur à la bonne température pour le Keum-boo. C'est ce four que j'ai utilisé pour appliquer la feuille d'or 24k par la technique de Keum-boo à cette pièce gagnante ainsi que sur ma bague Oh! Ring qui a reçu le 2e Prix Saul Bell Design Award 2010 (ci-dessous). Il est aussi parfait pour cuire des petites pièces en argent, faire du fusing ou encore de l'émail sur le disque en céramique. I'm excited to share that I won first prize in the recent Metal Clay Today magazine's Keum-boo Challenge with my "Capturing Time" pendant (photo above)! The meaning of the pendant can be found on their site, here. First prize was this adorable little UltraLite Beehive Studio kilnfrom JEC Products! It arrived just recently arrived and I can't wait for my show season to calm down so I can try this new model out. They've made some really lovely improvements from the model I bought in 2008 at the PMC Conference, which I love and which I've been using for Keum-boo ever since! It makes life so easy! It heats up fast, it keeps to temperature until you turn it off, the brass inserts are ideal to keep pieces in the right place while applying the gold and also spread the heat in a uniform way. That is what I used to apply the 24k Keum-boo gold foil to this winning piece as well as on my Saul Bell Award's Oh! Ring (bellow). It's also ideal for firing small metal clay pieces, fuse glass and fire enamel using the ceramic insert. So happy to have a second UltraLite for classes on the road!
