Voici mon 3e projet pour "4/Mo" (FAM) du mois de février, que je montre après la 4e bague car je voulais écrire un post à part pour celle-ci. L'anneau de cette bague a été crée utilisant l'outil pour les bagues sans joint de chez MetalClays.com dont j'ai parlé dans ce post (oui, je sais c'est "billet" en français, j'ai du mal à m'y habituer) précédent. J'ai simplement adapté l'anneau à une forme afinée à la base pour alléger le design. J'utilise ce que j'ai sous la main. Le haut a été crée utilisant de la Art Clay Copper (Cuivre), Art Clay Silver, sur une base de PMC3, l'ensemble cuit sur l'étagère du four à très haute température, naturelment, sinon la pâte de cuivre risquait de ne pas arriver à l'étappe de frittage. Comme vous pouvez constater, le resultat est bon. Après cuisson la surface a été meulée puis poncée et poli pour obtenir une surface lisse et uniforme. Ensuite, j'ai soudé la décoration sur l'anneau de bague. J'aurais pu cuire le tout ensemble mais l'idée d'utiliser cette pièce en bague m'est venue après sa cuisson. C'était assez facile et amusant à faire. Le dernier livre de Hadar Jacobson, Patterns of Color in Metal Clay, m'a donné une petite idée de l'effet que je voulais obtenir et ensuite j'ai essayé mes propres méthodes et schémas de cuisson adaptés aux marques des pâtes que j'utilisais. C'est une bague assez grosse  ... au tour de la taille 9 US. Je suis contente du résultat puisque j'adore les bagues imposantes, et vous ?

Here's my 3rd entry to "Four a Month" (FAM) for the month of Februrary, which I'm actually showing after having posted the 4th ring because I wanted to write a sepparate post for this one. This ring band was made using MetalClays.com 's seamless ring tool I spoke of in this post. I simply altered the result a bit by tapering the band to thin out the design.I basically use what I have at hand. The top was made using extruded ArtClay Copper and Art Clay silver on a PMC3 backing, all fired together on the kiln shelf at very high temperature, of course, or the copper would risk not sintering.As you can see, it worked beautifully. After firing the top was ground down, sanded and polished to make the surface smooth. Then I soldered the top to the fired ring band. I could have fired it all together, but the idea of making this piece into a ring was an afterthought. It was actually easy and fun to make. Hadar Jacobson's great last book, Patterns of Color in Metal Clay, gave me an overall idea of what I wanted to acheive, then I tested and adapted my firing schedule and method to suit the metal clays I was using. It's a pretty big ring ...  and about a size 9 US.  I'm happy with the result since I looove big rings, how about you ?

Le cuivre est oxidé grace au Baldwin's Patina pour accentuer le contraste des 2 métaux, justement, puisqu'il n'agit presque pas sur l'argent. Le soufre marche aussi pour noircir le cuivre, mais avec l'argent juste à coté il aurait été difficile d'éviter que l'argent soit aussi touché.
